EDEMA - Yew-360 Wholistic Health & Wellness

WHAT?S EDEMA AND WHAT CAUSES IT?

?

DR. YEW:? Edema is a swelling, commonly of the legs and feet (although it can occur almost anywhere in the body), commonly referred to as ?water retention? or ?fluid retention?.? An abnormal amount of fluid accumulates in the body cavities, and the surrounding skin and/or tissues get puffy and easily indented by touching.? It?s also accompanied by a numbness and poor circulation to the affected area(s).? Edema is mainly an issue of the heart and kidneys (which regulate water-mineral balance), and can often be found in those who have or may be prone to circulation ailments such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

?

?

IYA SADE:? Edema comes from the breakdown of cells in the body ? a deterioration. ?When the cells become too congested with waste, they will break down, whether it is in the legs, hands, heart (congestive heart failure), knees, etc. ?These symptoms can occur with signs of bloating and swelling of the body or can be limited to legs and feet, or arms and hands. You can do a self test by pressing firmly for 8-10 seconds in the swollen area. ?If an imprint is left, there is excess fluid present.

?

This condition can be painful at times. The skin can feel tight and very uncomfortable.? The lymphatic system is also congested and can cause fluid to back up into the cells.

?

Metaphysical: ?This condition is a result of not crying and?being afraid to move forward.? You?re creating obstacles and limitations for yourself.? Your body is telling you to let go and to take more risks in the direction where your heart is telling you to go.

?EDEMA WHOLISTIC REMEDIES

?

DR. YEW:? Edema is primarily a dis-ease of dehydration!? Therefore, the number one way to effectively prevent or to rid of this problem is to hydrate your body!? This is why edema is such a prevalent?issue around the summertime.? Water, water, and more water ? this is what most people naturally crave more of around the warmer months anyway.? That helps to cope with the loss of water and electrolytes (minerals) due to increased perspiration (sweating).? It?s best to follow your body?s natural instincts.

?

On the subject of water however, many of our people do not know what good quality water is, or is supposed to be, due to the commercialization and misleading information portrayed by the water companies.? As a result of this, one thing I?ve encountered over the years is people who feel they drink a lot of water that is only continuing to contribute to the fluid imbalance in their bodies.? This happens because the water being drunk is not being absorbed as it needs to be. ?Natural spring waters (with naturally occurring trace minerals) or alkaline waters help to balance this out.? Many imported waters and some local waters that are ?bottled at the source of the spring? are better choices of water to drink.? These waters, unlike other waters, are less processed, as real spring waters are naturally filtered through the rocks they go through, which also provides the electrolytes needed to promote the proper fluid balance & hydration?in the body.? Another great option that can be utilized is natural coconut water.

?

Other reasons water may not be properly absorbed by the body can include constipation (congested colon) and drinking?insufficient amounts.? We must remember that water is essential in all processes of the body, foremost, the functioning of the brain (which usurps its water before anything else), digestive system, and circulatory system.

?

High sodium (salty) foods and excessive amounts of protein (particularly animal proteins) should be avoided if you have issues with edema.? The kidneys become stressed to relieve large amounts of protein and salt that isn?t needed, especially in the absence of sufficient water.? Think about when you?re stressed out at work or school, not having all the tools you need to complete your work, and how that can affect your performance.? It?s almost the same principle, and it impairs the kidneys? ability to regulate the fluid.? That brings your body into a starvation-like state, where your tissues hold onto the water you have by any means necessary.

?

?

IYA SADE:? Foods are very vital to bettering the outcome of your condition.

?

?

Recommendations:

STAYING AWAY FROM FRIED FOODS,?ALL ANIMAL BYPRODUCTS, ALL PROCESSED FOODS, ALL FAST FOODS, SODAS, FRUIT DRINKS, &?ALCOHOL.? INCREASE YOUR WATER INTAKE, FRESH FRUIT,?RAW VEGGIES, AND WHOLE GRAINS. ?SPICY FOODS HELP TO RID THE BODY OF FLUID.? BODY MOVEMENT IS VERY IMPORTANT:? WALKING, STRETCHING, JOGGING, SWIMMING, DANCING, & MARTIAL ARTS.? DO ONE OR MORE FOR AT LEAST FOR 30 MINUTES DAILY.

MONTHLY DETOXING:? 1-3 DAYS A MONTH AS A MAINTENANCE AFTER THE FIRST INITIAL DETOX OF 30 DAYS.
